# Buckets

A bucket is a storage container for objects.
Objects are files that contain data, such as documents, images, videos, and application code.

Nais supports provisioning and managing buckets in Google Cloud Storage (GCS) for use by your applications.

## Security

Out of the box buckets are only exposed internally in Nais, where [Uniform bucket-level access](https://cloud.google.com/storage/docs/uniform-bucket-level-access) is enforced.
This can further be restricted with [Public access prevention](https://docs.cloud.google.com/storage/docs/public-access-prevention).
